Natural HabitatThis plant is found at 98 m elevation in the Peninsula de Nicoya, Provincia de Puntarenas, Curú, Costa Rica, specifically at the mouth of Marianas Canyon. It grows at the edge of pastures where forest meets, thriving in sunny conditions, at least in the late afternoon.

Description

Jaltomata darcyana is an upright plant, growing to 75 cm high. Its upper stem is deeply longitudinally ridged, bearing leaves up to 12 inches long with entire margins. The flowers feature a green, 5-lobed calyx and a pale green corolla, 13 mm in diameter, while mature black fruits measure 12 x 13.5 mm and contain approximately 93 seeds.
