Erycibe sumatrensis is characterized by being largely glabrous, with exceptions for its sparingly pubescent inflorescences, ciliate-margined sepals, and densely pubescent exposed petal parts. Its flowers feature broadly obovate, bifid lobes that are broadly rounded, and a subellipsoid ovary approximately 2 mm long, which is slightly appressed pubescent towards the top.
