Description

Lycianthes starbuckii is characterized by an included calyx with five valvate lobes and an obovate to oblanceolate white corolla with violet veins, often notched at the margin. Its stamens have pale green, compressed filaments of unequal lengths, and it produces a berry fruit that matures from light green with darker spots to dull light purple or black. The gynoecium is 2-celled with 30-70 ovules.
