Description

This herbarium specimen displays a herbaceous plant with alternate, ovate to somewhat cordate leaves, often with undulate or shallowly lobed margins. Small, bell-shaped flowers are borne in the leaf axils, typically enclosed by an accrescent calyx that later inflates to form a papery husk around the developing fruit, characteristic of the Physalis genus.
