Contraindications & WarningsIochroma confertiflorum is EXTREMELY TOXIC. All parts of the plant contain potent tropane alkaloids and are poisonous. Ingestion can cause severe anticholinergic poisoning, leading to symptoms such as dry mouth, blurred vision, dilated pupils, rapid heart rate, hallucinations, delirium, convulsions, coma, and death. It is absolutely contraindicated for self-medication, pregnant or nursing women, children, and individuals with heart conditions, glaucoma, or prostate enlargement. It interacts dangerously with other anticholinergic drugs, antihistamines, antidepressants, and sedatives.
